I have been thinking more and more of taking my bike. Starting the SD at 20
degrees and driving it 6 blocks is painful.
15 miles on a bike - that's a pretty good work out. I jogged for one season
and got from being able to jog for 1 minute (and getting near heart attack
level) to being

I'd say keep it. That short commute is going to be VERY hard on any car, why
not make it hard on a car thats disposible?
Alternately sell it for $500 and pick up a cheap gas car to beat on...

Well, OK Don and Curt agree - beat the AKP-Wagen into the ground and keep the
SD for Saturday errands, Sunday drives and road trips. No sense getting a
gasser to beat on when I can beat on a 240D...I like the car, even though it's
a heap - part of the charm, PLUS I use it as a learning
I considered selling it to a workmate for $1. He needs a second car. He bought
a 220D brand new in 1973 (or so) and drove it for 19 years. He's older than
me, a really nice guy, has a LONG commute to work and continue putting crap in
the tank and continue the experiment...but I think I will
If I decide to ditch it, I'll keep your daughter in mind. Would give it to
her, not to you. You'd probably take it back from her!...Here sweetie, I
found this great little...uh...uh...Yugo for you. You're too young to remember
what GREAT cars these were...let's swap :-)
