I've had a few cars totaled by State Farm, and they always gave me what I thought was fair market value. My dad had a real battle with Allstate on the value of a car they wanted to total, but that was over 30 years ago now. He did finally get them to agree to pay for repairs. Re: [MBZ] OT: USAA
Have you gotten quotes from Hagerty? You might find them to be surprisingly affordable, and the policy is a guaranteed value policy. You’ve got to have a regular “daily driver” for every driver in the household, which it sounds like you do, but otherwise your cars might qualify. It’s often cheaper than a regular policy with collision and comp, and it has a guaranteed value. A regular policy with collision and comp would still mean a battle with the insurance company over the vehicle’s value. -D > On May 12, 2023, at 4:33 PM, Allan Streib via Mercedes > wrote: > > That's why I carry liability only on my older cars. I have been procrastinating for a while about shopping around as both of our houses have doubled in price over the last 3 years or so. Went from about $1800 a year to almost $5k a year. Had to raise the deductible to something like $6k just to keep it around $4k a year. I did shop around a while back and found I could save a significant amount on the houses, and the cars could be covered full coverage for less than I am paying USAA for liability.
