Neither of the trucks K-leb is looking at will see 20mpg at any speed.
My 6.9L '85 F350 dually got around 15mpg which is what our '94 F350
powerChoke got as well. The '85 was a 4spd with 3:73 gears while the '94.5
was a 5spd with 4:10 gears.

don't know about the ease or difficulty of repair or the cost, but the
hight pressure oil pump is the supply for the actuation of the

Right. They are electrically triggered, but hydraulically powered.
If your anti-foaming additives get weak in the motor oil, the
So what about a 95 dually, crew cab with 280k with a bad trans and needs
high pressure oil pump, is it worth $1200?

If it runs fine after you replace the pump, and the cost of the pump
and tranny replacement isn't prohibitive, I'd say it could be a good deal.
Here is the truck in question

Or, for probably the same money there is that 87 F350 6.9 4 speed manny
that runs and drives and supposedly doesnt need anything.

I have a '95 with 28?Kmi. Body is rough, no rust, 2wd, a work truck.
I would think it's a $5,000 truck.

twice as much fuel? Are you saying a 6.9 will use twice as much fuel as
a powerstroke?

Yeah, but I'm probably wrong. just because the one 6.9 I have experience
with got 6mpg towing doesn't mean the one you're looking at will, especially
since this one has a stick.
My 2wd '95 Auto PSD does 18 when empty on highway, 20mpg if you run
55mph.
When towing 11,000 lbs., It does about 12 @ 60mph.

A friend's (recently traded off) '05 F350 DRW 4x4 did better than that,
but far worse than a 2wd '01 F250 which frequently gets hooked up to his
trailer. The dualies do seem to show less difference between towing
Nothing came near the truck for leaving a toll booth with the trailer empty.
It is a rocket and I touched 95+ once just to play. Towards the barn.
