Re: [MBZ] Snookie needs to do something about FedEx

Maybe it’s due to where you live?

It wasn’t until a few months ago that Amazon started doing its own last-mile
delivery in Flagstaff. Years prior to that everything was delegated to the USPS
and occasionally UPS. If I wanted something from Amazon, I would have to order
it by Sunday or maybe Monday to get it by the end of the week. Since they
started doing their own deliveries it’s rare if something is more than two days
away.

Flagstaff is roughly 60k people, with another 30k added in when NAU is in
session. There had to be a huge volume of stuff coming into the area.

I'm guessing they have more hubs now but that's probably the reason
packages seem to be going way out of the way. They are not a point to
 point network.

As far as delivery times, well I've noticed that nothing seems to work as
well as it did before the pandemic, and nobody seems to really care.

I get the hub thing but even at that every single package is scheduled to be
delivered on a certain day per their tracking, when the day comes it’s still in
Kansas City or wherever and gets delayed 1-3 days past the original scheduled
date.

My new HP work station arrived today but was originally scheduled for delivery
yesterday.

I’m sure Donald has a far better understanding of FedEx’s system, but yes, they
have regional hubs now along with the Mothership in Memphis. Indianapolis has
been a big FedEx hub for years, and has expanded a number of times. I think
DeMoines is a big UPS hub. Lakeland, FL, the airport just east of me that hosts
the EAA’s “Sun ‘n Fun” fly-in, is a hub for Amazon’s air cargo operations.

They’re all over the place anymore.

Yes nothing is the same as before. What gets me is I got to a fast food place
and instead of giving my food on a tray or whatever like normal, it’s all
bagged up like it’s to go and creates a lot of waste. Seems like this would be
much more expensive too paying for this packaging.

FedEx used to route everything through Memphis even if it was going from one
California address to another California address. They just optimized on
sorting all items at one hub.

I'm guessing they have more hubs now but that's probably the reason packages
