Re: [MBZ] When Gump was hot stuff
My first MB was of the model year 1978, a 300D. I've always wanted some sort of car from the year of my birth, so since I'm into MB diesels, it should be a 1972 220D. It could either be a 1972 or 1973 model as long as it was born in 1972. Kevin in Hillsboro, OR 1983 300SD 267Kmi, Ursula
Re: [MBZ] When Gump was hot stuff
Unless I win the Lottery I probably won't be able to get the Year-I-Was-Born-Car I really want (a '60 190SL). I'd probably settle for something diesel from 1960 Bob R. - Original Message - From: Kevin Kraly [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Mercedes Discussion List mercedes@okiebenz.com Sent: Monday, May 07, 2007 10:26 PM Subject: Re: [MBZ] When Gump was hot stuff My first MB was of the model year 1978, a 300D. 1999 E300 Turbodiesel ln = unix command for link. [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: ln = unix command for link. Basically I made a second directory entry to point to the same cunk of data (until one or the other is modified, then they become two completely separate files...) Um, not in Linux. A plain ln will create a hard-link - that is, two labels that point to the same inode. Change one and you've changed them both - unless when you make the change, you unlink (or delete) the original and then rewrite the file. Using ln -s creates a soft-link, or symlink. This is a file that is a forward to the real thing. Most programs will treat the link as though it were the real file. Thus if you edit the symlink, you really edit the real file and if you edit the real file, the symlink will point to the changed file. So except for the situation where a file is unlinked before being re-written, modifying one or the other side of a link will alter both. -- Philip, Linux junkie

actually no -s, since web servers can take a disliking to symbolic links. That was cool but it needs some subtitles (if the narrator was speaking English it probably would have been half as long). I liked the offroad and crash test sequences. --R Redghost wrote: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=klu1hHQA_rU Old timers will like this little video.

Re: [MBZ] When Gump was hot stuff
Looks pretty spry. Love the Air Time Lotsa body roll tho. (The newer ones hardly roll at all. I have a couple of photos of Laura driving Frantz on the skidpad recently. I dunno the speed she was at (I didn't look at the speedo when I was driving.), but I know it set off Low Oil (with the engine at max) and Low washer water ...) BTW I saw a 280SL at the same time (circa 62-67?) It was pretty hot stuff. I was suprised! (The photos are at http://ns1.2tough.com/~jreames/P4290003.jpg and http://ns1.2tough.com/~jreames/P4290004.jpg ) ... It was squealing around on the edge of traction in those photos. If opushed any more, it experienced a departure as ESP kicked in. -j. -- Original message -- From: R A Bennell [EMAIL PROTECTED] Love that clip. Have watched it several times.
