messing with it.  It has a four-speed manual transmission.

I don’t get these people. He mentioned it being well maintained, my first 
question was if he had any service records/history. Next question was asking if 
it needed any repairs or had any mechanical issues. My meaning was beyond the 
dead AC the ad mentioned. 3rd was if he has additional photos or video he could 
send.  He simply responded that the AC needed to be charged. I replied back 
asking about service history. No response.

make a mint from.  They have more value at PnP.

Most of the cars on the road in the R/c107 class are #4 condition.  A few may 
make it to #3 and are driven.  I have yet to see a true #2.  My indy has five 
or six SL he is working on.  The 73 he rebuilt for a customer is a solid #3 and 
will sell for under $10k,  Local dealer had a 84 380sl listed at $12k.  I 
looked at it but it got sold while I fiddled about trying to get SWMBA to get 
there.  This was a definite #3, border #2.  No damage at all.  Paint was 
spectacular, interior had no sign of wear.  Serviced by the dealer from new, 
and all work done by the dealer with no cost seeming to be spared.  The only 
thing I could find wrong was that the wheel wells had some dirt.  This was 
front and center on the sales floor.   It sold for $7800.

Steel wheels were normal, bundts an upgrade.  Not really sure when the ACCII 
came in, but suspect it was later.  US spec paperwork and console.  Not Euro 
spec,  just pretty basic.

years ago. Cat 3176 engine w Allison 4 speed on a Gillig frame. 
Don't even know what starter voltage they run 12 or 24?

RV roof leak is the kiss of death. I would class it as scrap without even
seeing it. Been there, done that. The amount of hidden damage always
translates to huge cost in both time and money.

The engine/transmission/ chassis combination however is a pretty successful
one, however.

Sad, but true.
The way these things are built generally makes it very difficult to repair.
We had a travel trailer that developed a leak. I tried to find and 
repair it but guessed wrong I assume since it got worse instead of better.
We ended up trashing it even though it looked like new. The floor became 
soft and I initially contemplated repairing it but it became pretty 
obvious that it was not worth the effort. It got progressively worse.
I sold off the bits and pieces that people wanted like the stove, 
refrigerator, furnace, hot water heater, and awning. Stripped the 
aluminum and hauled it to the metal recycling place for $.
The rest went to the dump except for the frame and chassis. I still have 
that and contemplate building a flat bed trailer out of it. It was 23 
feet long with dual axles and electric brakes on each axle.
It would not make a car hauler without a lot of beefing up but it should 
be good for hauling snowmobiles or quads or lumber etc. I need some new 
tires for it and then to beef it a bit and put a deck and fenders on etc.

Project #??? in a long list.

'50s or '60s. They're heavy and are built to last. Sadly most of them at this 
point have soft floors and need to be totally gutted and rebuilt. I'm not a

Most of the construction methods used for stick and staple travel
trailers and some motor homes starts with the floor, then the interior
furniture, cabinets, THEN the walls and finally the roof.. so to replace
the water damaged floor, it requires complete dismantle of the structure,
which is also water damaged. Death by water..

Pretty much the same construction methods for most of the older motor
homes. Truck chassis with a travel trailer built on top of them.. made to
look a bit nicer, but pretty shoddy construction really. Sad, considering
the price they sell for new.

 aluminum and hauled it to the metal recycling place for $.
 The rest went to the dump except for the frame and chassis. I still have
 that and contemplate building a flat bed trailer out of it. It was 23
 feet long with dual axles and electric brakes on each axle.
 It would not make a car hauler without a lot of beefing up but it should
 be good for hauling snowmobiles or quads or lumber etc. I need some new
 tires for it and then to beef it a bit and put a deck and fenders on etc.
 Project #??? in a long list.

There was a guy near my house who, a couple years ago was taking or in some 
cases getting paid to take camper trailers. He'd strip them down, sell the 
appliances, scrap the aluminum and copper, burn the wooden structure in his 
outside wood burning furnace. Then make a nice flatbed trailer out of what was 
left. He hired high-school kids to do the demolition for him and made a bunch 
of money.
Did one motorhome that I know of. Said he made good money on that one, he got 
paid to take it and it had a low mileage Dodge 440 in it that he sold to a guy 
for use in a pickup.

Yeah that's what I thought about the leak and resulting damage. I 
love that engine and chassis, though I would rather have a 6 
speed transmission.
