I am going to build a dual processor box running NT. How do I set things up
so I get copies of Prime 95 running on each processor. I want to get
maximum bang out of this combination.

If so, what in a PIII gives it such an advantage over a PII?

is going right. From what I
understand LL tests that encounter some number of errors are scheduled for
a rerun and as result make no real contribution to the overall effort.
Comments and other approaches are appreciated.

I don't appear to have gotten credit for a factor found with P-1.
What is the procedure for getting credit for a factor found during P-1
testing as part of Double checking?

Does anyone know the algorithm for determining the credit for P-1 testing?
Case 1 no factor found?
Case 2 a factor is found?

Folks
I downloaded and installed v21.1a. From a single machine (a P III 600 @
867) it runs about 23% faster. Also from a single data point on a C I (C I
300 @ 464) it runs 2 % slower. This matches up with what George said about
this version.

What is the correct algorithm for calculating the time credit for a LL test
of an exponent?
I did a linear interpolation from the times in the status page and this
does not match reality. When I think about the growth characteristics of a
FFT it appears that my approximation was naive.
My take is that due to the long test times the instant gratification that
used to come fairly quickly even on a most speed machine is no longer
there. This will turn off a lot of casual testers. In spite of this the
total production keeps climbing. The last time I looked PrimeNet was just

I just encountered the error 29 problem on several machines. All of them
were running 21.4. Two more machines that were running 22.4 were just fine.
I upgraded everybody to 22.8 and everything went back to normal in terms of
accessing the server. BTW during this time I could not ping
