All of these tests start to pass if I remove the ctx check in _eglCreateSync().
In the cases _eglGetCurrentContext() returns NULL, it needs to be checked if

Yes, that is correct.
The issue is one of C++11 ABI mismatch. If a public interface to a library
is C++ but contains no C++ std library data structures
