Dear List Members,
For those who are thinking about hunting the Mojave this time of year, be
prepared to hunt at night when it cools down to around 100 degrees. They never
report accurate temperatures on the news here in the Summer because it is bad
for tourism. There is only one temperature
Hi Adam and List,
Well, at least it is a dry heat ;)
Seriously though, that kind of heat is lethal. I knew it got hot out
there, but I had no idea it got up to 140F. That is nuts.
I just told my wife and she said - Why would anyone want to live there?LOL
I told her - METEORITES.
Yes, here in Florida the high temperatures with the high humidity just
make it awful. You can be 5 minutes outside and you're sweating! You
can almost eat the air outside.

I know humidity makes a big difference. Luckily the humidity around here is
usually in the single digits which is perfect for meteorite storage but when
the
monsoons hit this time of year, the humidity can suddenly jump up to around
50%. Add this to temperatures in excess of 120 degrees and

Yea - meteorite hunting is mostly put on hold for a few months in the Mojave,
although I have gone out in plus 100 temp; I leave early to arrive at about
6:00 am and stay until 12:00 or after my water's gone. I remember being out

Hi all,
Over 12 years ago (during my first year of meteorite hunting) I got
heat stroke while hunting Gold Basin in summer.
I learned the hard way.Hunt in winter!
In this video we had frost and ice on our sleeping bags but it was
better than 130 degree heat!

Rather suddenly I find myself for the week at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester

thought I would drive over and see what all the huabub was about and just enjoy
the scenery. I would be beholding if someone could recommend

Hello list,
here in Berlin we had and actually still have temps in the 33-37 deg C ranges,
which roughly translates to the mid-90s degrees on the Fahrenheit scale. This
is already felt to be unusually hot summer weather for a typical Central
European, and, even more, felt to be quite
Hi Steve, Thanks... Thanks also go to the other hunters who helped by
sharing their data. Without them and the kindness of the folks in WI, we
wouldn't have this great information.
