Jim and list,
I agree. I always saw sniping as a stategy used to get the item for the
best possible price. If I decide I am willing to spend $200 for an item
--snip-- you can use anti-snipe services.
Best wishes,
Charlie
As a gold powerseller with 1500 open ebay auctions I
should know these things but can somebody explain to
me what an anti-snipe service is and how it works?
Cheers

Yes, what is an anti-sniping service.
Is the idea to overwhelm the server with incremental bids so that the
snipe can't get in edgewise?
Another voice in praise of sniping.
I use it quite a lot and it often works...
I suppose you might consider it a shock and awe tactic.
It might catch other
Boy,
I wonder if this thread is about me... :-)
I agree with Gregory on this. Bid the max you're willing to pay. Sometimes
when I'm at the edge of my budget I'll pass on a few auctions. Only to find
later that no other bids were placed and that the item sold way under what I
would have been
Hi Mike,
Just bid your highest bid the first time and forget it. If you win, you
win. If you don't, via sniping or otherwise, well you weren't going to
bid
any higher anyway so what difference does it make whether the other
person's
bid was entered 10 hours, 10 minutes, or 10 milliseconds
Good Morning-
This is probably a little off topic- but a comment
I would like to make to see if I am alone in this.
When bidding in ebay or other on meteorites- there
is nothing more disappointing than someone that lays
out for the last few seconds and then outbids you with
a fast server. It
make it a TRUE auction venue.Good luck with sharpening your ebay sniping skills Mike. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em.

Good
You could always bid high enough where this won't happen.
Most people are afraid to go that extra 1.00. Try it, it may work for
you! But really, not much you can do about it. That's life.

Having participated in an off-list, knock-down drag-out fight with another listee about this particular subject ;-), here's what I would offer:

Hello Mike and Listmembers.
Sorry, but your idea is never going to happen. Sniping on ebay is a
way of life and has been since the beginning of ebay. The real solution
would be for eba
before the auction
ends?
