Hi Greg,
many thanks for the congrats!
Of course, 34 years Antarctic campaigns and only 2 different aubrites found
there; 20 years Sahara and 10 years Oman, also only 2 different aubrites...
But not only due this absurd rareness, that little stone is in our internal

Hey Tom all,
As Tom mentioned, a page of very interesting reading has now been presented
on the NAU website. I agree with Tom... it's a great overview of the whole
situation and I too, highly recommend taking a look at it. And don't miss
the section towards the bottom titled Problems and

Obviously not an Aubrite as advertised. Not even Murchison (looks like CV3).
And what is 'Space Research Corporation?' The only info I can find is of a
notorious arms smuggling company. I emailed the seller and told him that it is
What about the australian export permit required if it

Second photo shows that this is obviously a NWA CV3
which makes his 6 gram rock worth about $30. I find it
strange that somebody would try to

Hi, Dean,
I'm sure someone will have the paper
It seems to me that there are at least four or five different things
that people may be trying to describe using various terms, including
fossil and paleo. 1) The original minerals in a meteorite may be
partially or completely converted to terrestrial minerals on

Hi All,
Here's an interesting link to a scientific draft about fossil meteorites:

(It works best for IE, and doesn't display correctly in Firefox, for some
obscure reasons.)

I dont want to get involved in the thread about what
the classification is (I will be pretty happy no

explain to me why its called a Fossil meteorite?
I realize that the term fossil can be loosely used
to describe pretty much any old stuff

1. Actually the paleometeorite is not magnetic, it is
so old, thus the name Fossil meteorite that there is
no metal left to cause it to be magnetic.
2. So you do not care that it is not a Aubrite, you
just whine that the prices are low. Funny (after you

I am NOT a meteorite dealer and rarely sell any

The high degree of weathering, subparallel oxide veins and relic chondrules
suggest it may be the same EL6/7 material that has surfaced recently. I
think somebody purchased the vast majority (about 70 Kilograms) of it from

It may become the first EL Metachondite but I think relic
chondrules would disqualify it as such.
Nope, Ted said that a few relic chondrules in a huge pile of rock wouldnt
disqualify it as a metachonderite. Afterall there are winonaite are
metachondrites and can be chock full o' chondrules..
Hey Adam,
If different types of material from a single PB forms a metamorphic
continuum as has been published recently, what are the exact parameters
for these different groupings; e.g., chondrite, metachondrite, primitive
achondrite, achondrite, stony-iron, iron. I have not yet seen the
