Shawn,
Please show me the reference that Weston hit some manmade object. I've never
run across that and didn't see it in Silliman and Kingsley's report.
I think that it's on Michael Blood's site but believe he's in error.
Thanks,
Frank

Why not take the suggestions that have been made and be more concise in your
descriptions for the benefit of people who don't understand that your use of
word semantics are just plain misleading. Do you think this is a game? Follow
Gilmers advice. Never thought I'd say that, lol.

Hello All,
Glad this is getting some attention...again.
A few years ago I went back and forth on the list with a long-time dealer
selling "hammers" as pretty much any stone from any fall where at least one
stone had hit anything noteworthy (a subjective matter, to be sure). The

Omission of specifics and all the rest of your bs is nonsense. You know exactly
what you're doing. There's no point in arguing. Your ads are directed at the
poorly informed. Insinuating that one of your crumbs is a man killer is
pathetic hype and I pity your unfortunate customers.

Hi Folks,
One of my biggest pet peeves is when people mistakenly refer to desert

Hi All,
The use of the word "Hammer" when referencing/advertising meteorites,
should only be used to describe an actual stone which hit an artifact
(man made object).
Using the word "Hammer" or Hammer Fall" in advertisements to sell stones
that are not actual Hammer-Stones is misleading and
The wording in this AD is also very ambiguous.

Thanks right, Steve. I own a quarter of a slice from the core from THE
meteorite that hit Mrs. Hodges.
There is a guy on this list who continues to call his non-hammer Hodges
meteorite The Sylacauga stone even after he was reported to the I.M.C.A. for
misleading the public. For that reason
but which core? there are two stones.

I fully concur, the explosion of new dealers has muddied the market and some
people are a little "loose" with their words and descriptions. If people want
to own a piece of a meteorite which actually hit something, it should require
plenty of proof and documentation as to the specimen, chain of

Mike and all,
I agree with you the marketing "Such and Such Hammer Fall" is very often
misleading and if such a term is ever used, I think there should be an obvious
express disclaimer that the piece being purchase is NOT from the one that
actually hit the object, unless of course there is docu
Hi Gang,
If memory serves me correctly, I think Michael Blood has (or had) some
Bessey specks taken from a core sample of the Sylacauga hammer stone.
Maybe he can chime in here and verify that. As far as I know, that is
the only material from the hammer stone that is available.
Personally, I avo

Stone which hit the woman is actually in Alabama. The pieces of sylacaga in

of the private collections contain the woman hitting stone.
