I can only assume that at least all projects with "mingw" inside from this
period
have the irrevocable right to use their usual name.

Maybe this could be a problem for newer projects.

1) he's a troll that's upset because nobody of consequence uses his stuff
anymore

2) he registered that name 8 years after we were using ours, and it only
got approved 13 years after we started this project

3) he is assuming that a US trademark affects the global user base, which
it does not

Bottom line, his project will eventually fade away into obscurity.

constitute as a violation, regardless if it has -w64 in it or not. However
