I've setup a new SuperMicro Server with a Intel 82574L and a Intel
82579LM Gigabit NIC. The 82574L get's recognised with no problems as
em0. The 82579LM does not show up anywhere. As I found out this is a
fairly new chipset.
Is there already support for this chipset or will there be soon ?

You could save yourself the hassle and go with RootBSD. They advertise
as a FreeBSD VPS provider but will put the latest OpenBSD

The general trick is get the first OpenBSD install in place. After that,
you can do almost anything you want afterwards. It may be tricky, you may
end up making a stupid error that causes you to lose the system, but in
theory, you can do almost anything. :)

When I plug it in, the kernel registers the USB device, but doesn't
