Summing up, this sounds like the kernel configuration that was shoehorned into
amd64 installer images (and possibly other platforms?) lacks some of the code

Only by running a kernel where the driver's attach routine has been
modified to skip attaching the device e.g. if it matches certain
vendor/device id. OpenBSD doesn't have any other way to detach a USB
driver from a device.
in particular, you don't want sndio to switch

display's uaudio.

So in your case, it seems that either the terminal is putting something on the
serial data lines that the USB serial adaptor is interpreting as nulls, or
possibly it's doing something with the handshaking lines that makes the
USB serial adaptor generate the equi

I've not worked on drivers before (aside from adding some device IDs), but
this looks like about the most straight-forward introduction that

If you short the tx/rx lines at the DE-9
on it several times):
I have an external VT100 terminal connected to my 2015 13in MacBook Air
running OpenBSD amd64/7.4-release/stable via a Keyspan/Tripp-Lite USA-19HS
USB to DB-9 serial adapter. The USA-19HS uses ukspan(4) which was added in
6.6. I've added a ttys(5) line, HUPed INIT, have run ttyflags(8
ously not as good as a full 11ac
implementation but still fairly usable - in large part due to the
additional features rather than modulation).
BTW if you can find one, the white Raspberry Pi branded adapters are
not a bad choice for USB wifi:

Thank you very much,
Hello,
I have installed OpenBSD/amd64 7.3 on an old MacBook Air (2013).
The onboard wifi doesn't work anymore, so I bought a TP-Link USB wifi
dongle off Amazon (TP-Link WN821N, 300Mbps).
OpenBSD seems to reecognize it (see attached dmesg, ifconfig), but it runs
slow. I have a 1Gbps Internet

works via muxing on USB3 ports, so the culprit could be
somewhere in the USB port initialization or in the muxing OS side support.
Sadly the BIOS doesn't provides any option regarding the USB support.
Any idea what could i try, research, check? I really miss that USB port...
