Additional wd-devices

I have 6 IDE devices; 4 of them are connected to the primary and secondary IDE channels and 2 of them are connected to the SATA ports with IDE to SATA adapter. I assumed the two drives connected to the SATA ports would show up as sd0 and sd1, instead the show up as wd0 resp wd1. Was I wrong in
