There are going to be configure changes and I thought it would be nice to
centralize the things that will affect package managers so they don't have
to chase for information.
I can also do it on misc@, just proposing :-)

I've looked
I'm again attempting to build OpenSMTPD on the latest OpenIndiana release since
it has a newer toolchain. I've downloaded the newest libasr from June, 2015
and configure and make completed without any errors. However, during "gmake
install" it stopped with:
libtool: install: chmod 644
