Not sure, but have you tried smtp+tls instead of smtp?
The man page says:
The label corresponds to an entry in a credentials table, as documented
in table(5). It is used with the “smtp+tls” and “smtps” protocols for
authentication. Server certificates for those protocols are verified by
default.

Hi folks, https://www.opensmtpd.org/list.html doesn't tell how to unsubscribe an old EMail address, that cannot be used for sending EMails anymore. The same page doesn't list an administrative user, either, so please excuse sending this question to this mailing list.
