I have come across a paid opportunity for an iOS developer to create a
basic application that can play two tracks simultaneously and allow them
to be scratched using a MIDI controller. The primary target is
iPod/iPhone, but the app should also run on iPad/iPad Mini.

That projects scope is a bit big for gsoc. As it requires existing knowledge of
threading and qt. If you want to do some work on the library a much more self
contained project would be Smart Crates / Track Selector. I'll post some more
information for this on the wiki soon. The basic idea here
