That seems to have done the trick :)
I've emailed the CreateIMG author, referring him to this discussion, in
case he'd like to issue an updated version.
I'll also investigate some of the other new options you describe, but for
now I think I've got something which works pretty well.
Thank you!
OK... that worked out fairly well. I'm now using a slightly tweaked
version of the default style supplied with mkgmap, and getting good
results.
I still think there's something strange going on with routing, though,
perhaps with the new version (4.5.0) of BaseCamp. This area of the map

Hi John,
I guess the black dot appears at a so called tile boundary.
Old versiones of mkgmap are known to cause
problems at these points.

Hi John,
I did not suggest to do that because I was unsure what style you
are using. The styles shipped with CreateIMG-beta09.zip
don't contain the needed changes which are documented here:

Thank you, Gerd,
I've tried to update my copy of CreateIMG with up to date versions of
splitter and mkgmap, and routing now seems to work properly :) Perhaps I
should try to contact the CreateIMG author, and suggest that he may want
to update his release.

I'm having a weird routing problem!
I'm using CreateIMG (which uses mkgmap to do the work) to create a Garmin
compatible map of the UK. I've installed this map into BaseCamp, and I'm
trying to create a route.
There's a point on a local minor road which BaseCamp refuses to route

Hello,
I can reproduce your problem on my Vista HCx by simply choosing Show
Basemap in the Setup Map menu.
By choosing Hide Basemap the purple line reappears.
Does that help?
Cheers

Hello,
I excuse in advance if this is not the good email for the question.
Recently when I route on my Etrex Vista the map is displayed over on the
purple line that shows the road to take. I am very sure that before the
purple line was over.
The problem is now routing is not utile anymore to me

What's really fascinating about your example is that mapsource will
happily route from A to a point within the tile containing B passing
right past point C. For example, route from A to the end of Plutoniumweg

Hi Mark,
I'm not sure if this is good or bad news, but the Nuvi works!
Just to be sure, I'll check my Nüvi this evening.
Please do, it would be useful to know if a real GPS has the same
problem (my guess is that it will).
It also works out of the box, routing perfectly, when I route from
