Requesting co-maint on Catalyst::Plugin::HTML::Scrubber (author unresponsive so far)
[Re-sending this mail originally sent on 10th July, as I realised I didn't include module-auth...@perl.org...] Hi, I'm trying to reach Hideo Kimura (HIDE) to discuss maintainership of the Catalyst::Plugin::HTML::Scrubber dist: https://metacpan.org/pod/Catalyst::Plugin::HTML::Scrubber It hasn't been updated since 2010, and HIDE hasn't released anything since 2012, so it seems likely that he is no longer active in Perl. I raised an issue on his GitHub repo on 2023-06-14 offering a new feature, and offering to take on maintainership if he'd be willing: https://github.com/hidek/Catalyst-Plugin-HTML-Scrubber/issues/1 I then raised a pull request implementing the feature on 2023-06-20: https://github.com/hidek/Catalyst-Plugin-HTML-Scrubber/pull/2 I've tried emailing the two email addresses I can find for him publicly on 2023-06-20 with no response so far. I believe https://www.linkedin.com/in/hideo-kimura-b6b6abb is him, I've sent a connection request on 2023-06-28 but no reaction. I haven't been able to find any other contact details so far. I'd appreciate if anyone has any other method to contact Hideo, and/or if we can't reach him, if one of the PAUSE admins would consider giving me co-maint on it so I can get a new version out. Cheers David Precious (BIGPRESH)

(Perhaps even already on CPAN?) Isn't that just the Levenshtein distance? So e.g. Neil's Text::Levenshtein? One thing I thing is good to consider is the fact that all CPAN releases get announced on a quite populated IRC channel, increasing the chance of someone spotting a release announcement and thinking "hmm, that looks dodgy" - but that's of course not entirely reliable, and doesn't focus only on new releases.

And a further reminder of my offer to take on the maintenance of this module. modu...@cpan.org people, when you're satisfied it's been long enough, then I (BIGPRESH) would very much like perms on Net::DNS::Resolver::Programmable. First contact attempt was, as per chain below, 9th June by email; I've also reached out on LinkedIn as an alternate contact method. Re: Maintainership of Net::DNS::Resolver::Programmable
Hi Julian, A further poke - no idea if you still use this CPAN address, but trying again as I got no reply to my mail below. I also tried to reach out on LinkedIn in case you are active there but no longer read mail to this address. As per my mail below, if you're no longer able to maintain Net::DNS::Resolver::Programmable then I'd be happy to take over maintainership, if you'd be willing? I have just made that change. This puzzles me, as when I approached Bernard, asking if he'd be willing to let me take it over (as it was unmaintained for a couple of years and had some important bugs reported in RT with no response for a couple of years) his response was "Yes, I'm the author of this module. We may consider transferring it to your responsibility. How do you want to proceed?" - to me that was an agreement to hand over mmaintainership. That said - I'm perfectly happy to just act as a co-maintainer, and will contact Berhard off-list to discuss that (in particular, which repository should be considered the "official" one, as I could find no public repository and thus started a new one on GitHub with the code as it was at the point I thought I was taking it over). I'd just like to make it clear that this was a mis-understanding, and not an attempt to subvert control of someone else's module. Cheers Dave P

I'll fix up the outstanding tickets and get a new release out to CPAN within the next week or so, hopefully sooner. Cheers Dave P
Re: [dancer-users] Adopting Dancer::Plugin::Passphrase
I'd be happy to take on James' Dancer::Session::DBI, as we're active users of it and happy to maintain it (I'm BIGPRESH on CPAN). I'd be tempted to take on the awesome Acme::Addslashes too, but I think it's reached the peak of perfection already ;) On Thu, 18 Sep 2014 09:34:41 -0400 David Golden x...@xdg.me wrote: James, Thank you for filling in the missing pieces and providing an obituary link. Was an obituary published or are there additional details that can be shared to corroborate what happened? As James was estranged from his family it took some time for them to be tracked down, and as a result it's been difficult for us to get any more information. As far as we know, the accident he had a couple of months previous to his passing - where by he was struck by a motor vehicle whilst on foot - was the underlying cause. When he returned to work, and we spent some time talking, he told me that the doctors had confirmed that he had some form of damage to his brain, but they were happy he was showing good progress with healing and so he was allowed to return to work. Over the course of those 2 months the injury to his leg was well on it's way to healing and he no longer required the walking stick he was using. About a week later we didn't hear from James for the tail end of a week (This was not uncommon as we all telecommute and occasionally we just get on with what we're doing). The shock came on the Monday morning when we had a message from his girlfriend that he had passed away. The details weren't clear, he had apparently returned to hospital because he was feeling unwell, as to whether he passed away in hospital or was again released we're unsure. Needless to say we didn't really press his girlfriend for more information given the situation. I can confirm however that due to the support of his friends, the Perl community and even some complete strangers, that James did get a decent funeral and a proper send off. So my personal thanks to all those that contributed, as it was a send off he deserved. Hope this helps shed some light, and allows us to keep James' modules going.
