i have wondered about this, as well.
simply asked... if someone has bought a rare poster, lets say, from a
universal or paramount film from the 1920's or 30's, does the new
owner of that poster have the right to print sell reproduced images
and make money from these repros? or

so are you saying that older poster images fall into the public
domain arena? any idea how much time must go by before a poster falls
into the PD category?

given the musicians credit, though I don't know who performed in most of the
clips. In all cases but one, they were taken from the original soundtrack
recordings, which I got online and were uncredited.

Several years ago Daniel was asking for images of different Marx Bros.
posters, I had one of the posters he was looking for and offered him the
image. He offered to purchase the right to have my poster photographed for a
35 mm
I sold a Maltese Falcon WC through Heritage, and others, which I've
since seen repros of being hawked on ebay.
I brought it up with Grey, they're just grabbing the large jpegs, not
a lot, or rather, nothing, you can do about that.
