We are mostly into post-1970 movies, that alone already needs a lot of
defending ;-), and a few titles that a worth defending in our humble opinion
are:
Return of the Living Dead
2 Days in the Valley
Thing to do in Denver when you are dead
Arlington Road
Good Will Hunting
Braindead (P. Jackson)

It's not my favorite film but I film I like that nobody else seems to is
Monsieur Verdoux.
Another film I think is verygood but seems to elude people even people
who like The Red Shoes, which I don't, is The Story Of Three Loves.

Terrific, Dave. this one's
wow--one can barely tell the arts and crafts version from the real
deal--especially the lower third--the detail on the ebay item is spot
on!...LOL.. (all in jest, of course).
at least it's not a repro or fake being passed as the real deal-- which would
be harder to spot from a photo,
i do see in the description that the seller does state that the
bottom third is a restored/ replicated section and that the upper 2/3
are the only original sections. but that is some god awful
replication work, IMHO.

I received this poster from the eBay seller for auction some time ago and I

He seems to be an honest individual and it does not look as if he is trying to
deceive anyone with his listing.

I have about 35 Auctions closing WITHIN 6 TO 7 HOURS, including mostly
2, 3 and 4 Original US 1-SHEETS and other size posters for the price than

Yeah. It's obvious that the bottom third was taken from the one sheet
(or maybe something even smaller) and simply enlarged many hundred
percent -- the little dots of the original printing process are *huge*
at the bottom of this 3-sheet; look at the binoculars and James
Stewart's left hand.
For Michael (or anyone else) looking for a nice Rear Window piece at a reasonable price, I would point out this nice Window Card in my current auction which will be closing later this evening. In fact - there is a world of bargains still available for anyone with a few minutes to look through
Well, in the case of 2001, you kinda had to be there at the time it was
first released in 1968. It contained the greatest space travel special
effects ever seen up to that point, and was the first big-budget
Hollywood film since Destination Moon that had a reasonably serious plot

As for the incredibly wooden acting, even at the time everyone did
recognize that as a weird flaw and it was something harped on by
every reviewer. It's still hard to understand why Kubrick
deliberately went that route with the acting style, as his other
films clearly demonstrate that he was
sacrilege

JR is right in that you had to be there. Seeing this film today, even
on a nice flat panel high def TV just does not
speak to the event-quality nature of seeing the CINERAMA release of
this film in a great 70mm house like the Windsor
Cinerama in Houston. It was new, it was futurist, when
I remember when I was a weee boy, my folks went the the theatre to see this. I

Yes, and it's one of the few genuine science fiction films that isn't
another genre dresssed up as science fiction.

Absolutely. Great science fiction doesn't spoonfeed you a childish good vs.
evil plotline. If you want that, watch Star Wars.
2001 was a groundbreaking film, both artistically and technically.
