Hey there,
Does anyone out there have any 1920-1924 Lewis J. Selznick (brother of Myron
Selznick and father of David O. Selznick) silent film trade ads, pressbooks, or
posters that have artwork on (or inside) them? Al Hirschfeld often provided the
artwork for them.

I have a limited range of experience compared to the more veteran collectors on
here, but any and all advice helps.
One constant sentiment is that if you really like a rare poster (or lobby card,
press book, etc.) that you really want, you should do what you can to get it
then as it may not

I have heard forever about the days of cheap great items, and yes, there *WAS

are now very inexpensive prices. But I *KNOW *full well that not very many
collectors ever took advantage of these opportunities, because when

Here's a UK perspective.
I have probably bought more posters in the last year than in the three years
before that. It seems that quite a few posters which have historically been in
the low-hundred dollar range now pop up for (sometimes considerably) less than
$100. This has been
when old time collectors consign their collections to me, they have very few
or none of these types of items. i think they probably send those to heritage

But not for the faint-hearted. KILLER JOE, the new William Friedkin movie is
one of the blackest black comedies you will ever see. But
don't expect to guffaw at well-placed one-liners. Rather, expect to be so
appalled that you can't help but laugh. I don't shock too easily and I'm not
Incidentally, our policy is that if the auction host is down when auctions
close, those exact auctions are cancelled and those items only are
re-auctioned.
We have never had to do this even for one auction in our four years being

I'm agreein' with both of you. And yet, for some of us, the money comes in
handy, and the space is invaluable! It's a great time to buy stock in some

I guess if you are talking as an investor then yes, it is a bad time to
sell out of favor items that are currently selling for lower prices than
they once were.
And if you paid sky high prices at the top of the market then now is a
bad time to sell.
But some things will be higher in five years

I love this statement:
older posters of nondescript nature losing the greater part of their value
I am not sure that a poster has to be all that old to fall into this category.
I think that this statement describes about 95% of all movie posters in
existence.

The best time to sell is essentially ambiguous...
There are so many factors that include timing, trends, and ultimately...
strategy..
I have time and again seen one sheet posters selling in one auction..let#39;s
say emovieposter or heritage..that went crazy high and then similar condition
