I find this usually happens if you are searching via an ebay site different to
the one the items are listed on.
For example, I use ebay AU, so some of the stuff listed by people on ebay US
won't show, unless I log in to the US site.

Thanks, Wim.
Just as an aside, a few days ago I decided to do a seller search of my ebay
ID, posteropolis-com. There should have been 186 listings altogether. I
could only see 93. Tried again five minutes later and 183 turned up. Just
shows you that eBay search is so unreliable that you can get

I have 104 listings on eBay.co.uk but only 40 on eBay.com and visible to
U.S., because I have only paid the extra listing upgrade fee to have some
items available to U.S. viewers. That may explain some of it (or, then
again, possibly not.)

This happens OFTEN for U.S. buyers, too.
One item from a UK or German seller will be seen on the US site, then
when clicking on the "show more items" link, there is nothing.
Ive then gone onto the ebay the seller is located in, or listing from
and ALL the items are then visible to look at.
Just a reminder that the February sale closes in one hour at 1pm EST!

This is exactly what I (and probably many other Europeans) are facing
without even knowing.
Many auction items just do not appear at all - like as you said from
listings of cinemasterpieces or whoever.
You only notice this if he says he has X items for auction, and you only see
a fraction of them.
That items do not show up in search results seems a common problem on ebay.
If you are registered outside of the US, ebay does not show you any items from
sellers who ship to the US only. These will not show in any of your search
results.
Yet, even if you are registered in the US or the
