That is indeed very sad news. As anyone who had the pleasure to know Stan knew,
he was both a gentleman & generous repository of knowledge of French &
international posters. His legendary Paris shop, his incredibly influential
books were both crucial to the maturity of the movie

Indeed, he was, as you have said, one of the pioneers of film poster collecting.

many years ago, and again in 1990 in Paris when I visited there with Jose
Carpio, and he was a most gracious host.
And he was indeed a major pioneer of the hobby, and his books on French
posters were wonderful. He added
