On Thursday I did not fill sacks or feeders and watched theemptied to
within inches of empty, it became quite chaotic late in the day.
Friday I removed all but three sacks and two feeders which I filled.
Numbers were greatly reduced during the day with the highest count 81.

With the fresh snow, I decided to try my luck at finding Gray Partridges this
evening. Sure enough, the covey (8 birds) at the corner of 180th St. and Joan
Ave. in Dakota County (Soutwest of Hastings) ventured into the open field on
the NW corner of the intersection at around 5:15 pm and stayed
Hi everyone,
This afternoon, John Hockema and I were able to find White-winged Crossbills
in the town of Montgomery, in LeSueur County. They were about 4 blocks north of
the grain elevator in town. There were a few (very) Common Redpolls also
present.

Today we had one female purple finch at the feeder.
Last spring we had some purple finches for the first time at our feeder
(Cottage Grove) in late April and early May.

We had a group of at least 10 Cedar Waxwings in a tree in our yard today, 31 E.
Arrowhead Road in Duluth. This is unusual for us in winter. Monday there were
10 Robins together in our neighbor's yard...perhaps they have overwintered
