I went through the new Minnesota checklist and for fun (sick fun), I went
through and summarized the birds whose status has changed since the last
checklist five years ago.

My wife and I justed moved to Ramsey (Anoka county), and do not know the
area well. Do any of you know Anoka county well and if there are any hot
spots?
Other notes;
I took a hike last week at Westwood Hills Nature Center saw a lot of yellow
rumps, some turkey and found a cooper
Made the rounds in the yard today. Nesting season is well underway.
Eastern Bluebird: Day 1 of incubating 5 eggs.
Blue Jay: Sitting on a nest that she/they started building on 4/12/09.
Eastern Phoebe: After failing to complete a nest north of our property, she
returned here and refurbished

I checked Bass Ponds this morning and was not able to find the Avocets
or Willets after a couple hours of searching.
Overall, lots of birds but not much diversity. Lots of Yellow-rumps,
White-throated Sparrows, and Tree Swallows.

A late lone adult near middle of main lake visible from boat launch on
Goodhue County side. Good views showing small two-toned triangular
bill, straight vertical line where face meets bill, lack of grin patch,
and very round head.

Kansas, I have seen a 'first' at a prairie-chicken lek in Minnesota - a
Peregrine Falcon attempting to catch a prairie-chicken!!! It chased it
