During my 26th trip to Sherburne NWR's Wildlife Drive to look for the common
gallinules, I FINALLY was able to see 3 young birds early this morning.
Hooray! I also ran into Marcia Johnson out there - she's the woman who took
the only photo of the birds from this year, and counted 9 young.
On my drive heading home from North Dakota, I stopped in Duluth yesterday
and did about an hour of birding in Sax-Zim Bog (from about 11am until
noon). I had never been to the bog before in the summer time. It is such a
lush area, and was awesome to see the bog during the summer! Below are the
This morning a friend and I went hiking at Caron County Park in Rice
County (on the west side of Nerstrand-Big Woods State Park) and found

I stopped by the Sleepy Eye airport this evening to check the sod runways for
Buff-breasted Sandpipers (none yet) but I was surprised to hear what sounded
like a Henslow's Sparrow singing from the grassland that borders the runway on
