The August 30 Star Tribune had an obit for Arden Aanestad of Edina. A
long time MOU member, he was the 2007 winner of the T.S. Roberts award
of the MOU, one of many awards he received for his lifetime of work in
birding and conservation. Personally, I have fond memories of sitting

Try again. I spotted a Prairie Falcon at the North Ottawa Impoundment in Grant
Cty along the border with Traverse Cty. I was on the dead end road that enters
the middle of the area from the west side. I first saw the bird flying and
easily identified it as a falcon but the bird flew over by me
In Mapleton:
The Eurasian Collared Dove's regular perch on St. John's Lutheran
steeple was usurped by a Sharp-shinned Hawk this morning.
The dove took up residence on St. Theresa's Catholic next door.
Conversion possible?

Yesterday, 8/29, in SE Saint Louis Park I observed 4 - 6 common nighthawks
foraging and kettling, possibly in migration, from my back deck. They
finally disappeared into the cirrus clouds. Chimney swifts were also foraging
at what appeared to be a fairly high altitude. I have also
