A flock of a few dozen or more Rusty Black birds was frequenting the banks of the Cannon River in the West Wilderness late this afternoon. They were foraging and bathing at water's edge, with periodic song-fests in the trees over the river, just around the bend downstream from the big footbridge. B

I made a loop around the Prairie's Edge Wildlife Drive this morning and found 54 species.  I was surprised to hear as many birds singing as there were, at 23 degrees!  Nice collection of waterfowl and my FOY brown thrasher serenade was appreciated.  No gallinules...yet!  Here's my complete list:
