Field Trip Report
February 20, 21, 22, 2013
While leading a group, birding in Houston county. We were able to observe many
of the expected birds of the area, plus a few surprises.
Here are a few of those species:
Mike Hendrickson just called to report re-finding the immature King Eider first
discovered by Bruce Fall two weeks ago on Lake Superior. It was along Scenic 61
between McQuade Road and the Nokomis Restaurant.

This afternoon I observed 3 Eastern Bluebirds hanging around a spring hole on
Grey Cloud Channel while I was skiing. Grey Cloud is at the very south west
corner of Washington County.

I am heading up to the Duluth area tomorrow hping to have the chance to
photograph a boreal owl. I have been monitoring the boards and have seen posts
on a couple ovr the past couple of days but if anyone has any tips that they
would not mind sharing on where there are good places to look I
