Just a note. The verbally abusive woman I mentioned who was
(understandably) upset when a racing snowmobile chased off the owl we were
photographing has apologized to the snowmobile operator who was, as it
turns out, the owner of the property on which the owl was hunting its prey.

I've been feeding large numbers (20+ to 60+) of evening grosbeaks
(mostly 8AM to 2PM)for some time. Had my first pine grosbeak today,
and have been seeing them since day after Thanksgiving. I will work
with photographers who are interested in working with evening
grosbeaks them. Location is
Randy Frederickson and Ron Erpelding saw a Snowy Owl, they figured it is an
adult female, south of Watkins on CR #2 west on 375th St between 650th Ave
and 642nd quite far out in the plowed field, look for rock pile on south side
of 375th St with a sawed off power pole. There is a cluster
Thought it was interesting to see a Rough-Legged Hawk on UMN's East bank
campus this afternoon. It should have some peace and quiet around campus for
a couple weeks.

The female King Eider was seen again today (December 22nd) at Brighton Beach,
hanging out with Common Goldeneyes- presumably this is the same bird found by
Greg Garmer at 21st Avenue East on December 12th, though it hadn't been seen
since December 14th, and some observers felt the bird looked
