Hey birders,
A friend of mine alerted me to a Mute Swan in Mankato. The bird was located at
the Ace Hardware Ponds north of Hwy 14 along 3rd Avenue and was still there at
6:00pm. I've been by that pond the last couple of days
Around 7:00 this morning we had 2 Gray Catbirds, 3 Baltimore Orioles ( all
males) and 9 Rose-breasted Grosbeaks (5 males and 4 females).

A White-crowned Sparrow, Harris's Sparrow, and two Rose-breasted Grosbeaks
were seen at the bird feeders at the Bloomington Visitor Center this morning.

Today, May 6, Warbler wave and accompanying groupies with 11 different warblers
(dominated by Yellow-rumps of course) at Lake Marion Cty. Park south of
Hutchinson in McLeod Cty.
including CAPE MAY and BLACKPOLL, and a couple Blue-headed Vireos.

Despite the fact that the western tip of Lake Superior is covered by pack ice
as far as the eye can see, there were still some brave birds present this
morning...of note were the following recent arrivals...
Bonaparte's Gull - a minimum of 550
Harris's Sparrow - two along the roadside near the

Today I found a SAY'S PHOEBE flycatching off the white picket fences
by the horse pastures on the north side of campus. The best viewing
was behind the large horse manure piles (you can't miss them). If you
decide to visit to see this bird, please park in the UTOC building lot

We are having a good number of rose breasted grosbeaks coming into the feeders.
I was greeted this morning with an American Redstart fluttering around my
viburnum bush right out my front door. I did get a couple photos since luckily
I had

Just got a text from Karl Bardon about a Eurasian Wigeon at Brighton Beach in
eastern
Duluth. Mike Hendrickson is also apparently looking at the bird right now.
The entrance to Brighton Beack (aka Kitchi Gammi Park) off MN Highway 61 is
about a
quarter mile east of the mouth of the Lester
today I was hanging around the house working on a project. Glancing out my
window I saw a few warblers including a beautiful Mourning and
Chestnut-sided. We also had a flock of White-throated Sparrows hanging
around by the shore. A couple of days ago I checked some mouse traps in
my garage and
