This morning about 10:30 a.m. while I and a few other birders were looking
for the Black Scoter on Lake Harriet, someone bashed in the passenger
window of my car and stole a backpack off the front seat. The car was
parked on Lake Harriet Parkway in an open area, and we were standing only
about 75
Since some of you may be uncertain where this is, Cindy Kim Risen relocated
them on the lake at 23rd Ave East: from either I-35 northbound (no exit
southbound) or London Rd, follow 21st Ave East as it curves down the hill to
the lake and becomes 23rd Ave East. -Kim Eckert

Short stop by Memorial park in Shakopee this afternoon found this goose
near the water flowage to the MN River. Struggling with an ID. The photos
are poor from an iPhone. There was a domestic duck wading near by, perhaps
it is a domesticated bird?
Looks a lot like a graylag or a graylag cross with domestic. A normally

Here is a photo of a graylag cross with domestic from Wikipedia.

Earlier today I posted about a Long-eared Owl and it appears that may have
been a mis-ID'd bird.
Unlike the Long-eared Owl I saw at Springbrook Nature Center this past
spring, I did not get a photo of this bird.
So I apologize to those who went looking for it and only found a Great
Horned Owl.
For those of you interested, Kare 11 news and the Minneapolis Star Tribune
(blog by Jim Williams) have updates on what is happening with it now (care
by WRC and potential trip to Arizona).
