Kim Can you tell me (us) why a Lewis’s Woodpecker would be spotted in our area when it is so out of its range?? Is it just accidental, or a storm that moved it East, a rarity or something caused by climate change? I looked it up on Ibird pro and it really is a beauty, unlike the typical red

(Posted by Becca Engdahl via moumn.org) Myself and many other birders viewed the very cooperative Lewis’s Woodpecker in Becker county today from about 8:30am to 3:00pm. The bird was still present and actively foraging when I left shortly after 3. The homeowners are very friendly. Good luck to
