Xanthochroism is where normal red pigments replaced by yellow. This is also the
cause of yellow cardinals

When I closely examined some Redpoll photos that I took this spring, I found
some with orange or yellow feathers on the top of the head. I don't
remember seeing this before. I did some internet searching and found some
photos and references to orange feathers but no explanation for it. Does
