Interesting observations regarding the Osprey and compost at Poplar Lake.
Several of us have observed that behavior there also. I do not think it is the
heat they are seeking, but they are using that material to pack between the
sticks to make a more solid floor to their nest. Other Ospreys use
Had a few new species yesterday in Douglas. Had an Am Bittern calling
Friday evening and again Saturday AM. Lake Osakis had Bonaparte's Gulls (no
Franklins yet) and also had at least three Forster's Terns. I also saw many

Many thanks to Bruce and Susan for the Ibis tip. We and several others got a
great view of this curious bird this morning. It was last seen roughly 75 yards
South South-East of the viewing platform. Also many lesser and greater
Yellowlegs.

Susan Fall and I watched 7 White-faced Ibis on the mudflats at the far
west end of Lake Byllesby this morning, from 10:45-noon. There were over
100 shorebirds--Greater and Lesser Yellowlegs, Pectoral Sandpipers,
Dunlin (3), and 1 Long-billed Dowitcher.

Hi.
I enjoyed watching a flock of 40 Hudsonian Godwits fly into the Lincoln WPA

beautiful sight. Also present are American Golden-plovers, Pectoral Sandpipers
and both yellowlegs. Thanks to Chad and Bob for their previous
A Black-necked Stilt was seen from the fishing pier on Long Meadow Lake at
Old Cedar Avenue Bridge at 1:30 pm by Sue Plankiss and Dave McIntosh; I saw
the bird when I arrived a few minutes later. It stayed in the area in front

Between 5:30pm and 6:00pm Apr. 15, I counted just over 350 individual
shorebirds at the west end of Rice Lake. Most of these were Greater and
Lesser Yellowlegs along with a handful of Dunlin, one Least Sandpiper, nine
Hudsonian Godwits and one Marbled Godwit. The godwits, to the best of my
Did some scouting yesterday and today for a Jackson County Bird Club group
outing.
I believe ~67 species were seen in the Fairmont area between the scouting
and the outing itself. I don't have a complete list of all birds seen
today. However birds seen this weekend include:
7 White faced Ibis
