There has been a flock of about 40 white-winged crossbills visiting spruce
trees just to the east of Woodland Ave. (around E. Kent, E. College and Clover)
this morning.

Found at about 1:00 p.m. near the Hartley Nature Center. It perched from
several trees near the visitors' center before flying in the direction of the
reservoir. There was also a small flock of White-winged crossbills which could
be seen/heard near the parking area by the center.

I have an immature golden crowned sparrow coming to my feeder at 21 E. College
St. in Duluth this morning. I'm assuming that it is the same individual that
was visiting just before Christmas.

The immature golden-crowned sparrow was seen at our feeders in Duluth from 7:15
to 7:45 this morning. It is the first time that I have seen the bird since
January 19.
It is snowing this morning, as it has been on almost all of the days that this
bird has appeared here.

I was mistaken, in my previous message, about the last sighting of the gc
sparrow. It was actually seen last on January 29 rather than on the 19th. So,
about a 4 week interval between appearances.

Another brief appearance in our yard between 6:30 and 7:00 a.m. today. As
elusive as this bird has been, it has now been seen in each of the past four
months.

I found a Green Heron working its way around the pond at the Bagley Nature
Area (UMD) this afternoon at around 4:00 p.m. I had read some time ago that
this might be a good place to spot this species, but this was the first luck
that I have had after quite a few visits there.

departure so the new sighting comes as an
Good morning, everyone,
