the Mud River Pool on the refuge. This is in an area ("Enhanced Access area")

Bend in the River County Park south of Rice. From the farmstead take the trail
south and then take the trail that branches off to the right down to the river
bottom. At the bottom take the trail back to the right.

Ron Erpelding located a hayfield at the NE corner of CR11 and 240th St. in
western Renville County that has a number of both species in it. My quick
count came up with 17 birds - more Uplands than Buff-breasteds - but Ron saw
more than that earlier.

A single White-winged Scoter is currently present on Little Rock Lake in Benton
County. I am viewing it from a small park off West Lake Road, but it may also
be possible to see it from Benton Beach Park on the north end of the lake.

After seeing some eBird alerts last night that the Phalarope was still present,
Ron Erpelding and I decided to make another run for it this morning. However
the ponds are all completely iced over and not even any waterfowl present.

The winds were basically calm overnight, so all 4 of the ponds are frozen
over (as well as several other ponds and lakes that we passed on the trip
down that had been open yesterday).

At about 8:40 this morning I came across an Ibis in a wet hayfield at the
corner of CR3 and Housen Rd north of Osakis in Douglas County. I was unable to
ID it further before it flew off to the south in the direction of Osakis.

Just found a female Black-throated Blue Warbler at Eagles Nest county park in
Watonwan County. The warbler was at the camping/picnic area at the end of the
entrance road to the left of the white metal picnic shelter.

Ogechi Lake in Mille Lacs County. Ogechi Lake is west of Mille Lacs Lake and is
a part of Kathio State Park. The geese were seen from Vineland Road about 1/2

Around 5:00 this afternoon I found a Glaucous Gull on Little Rock Lake in
Benton County. The large size as compared to the nearby Ring-billed Gulls, as
well as the lack of any black in the wing, made it fairly easy to identify.

The Glaucous Gull is still present on Lake Waconia. Currently it is southwest
of the island. I viewed it from Cedar Point park on the SW side of the lake
(Cedar St and W Lake St). There is no boat access here but there is a fishing
pier.

There is a juvenile Long-tailed Duck in the southwest corner of Lake Ripley in
Litchfield. Look for a home on the lake side of the road with a bright red
metal roof. The LT Duck was in the vicinity of that house.

of the Blue Hill trail in Sherburne NWR. The crossbills were near the north end
of the spruce stand initially although I later saw the same or a different
group near the south end.

I just came across a Townsend's Solitaire in Benton County. The location is
85th Ave NW between house numbers 14245 and 14289 (just north of the bridge).
This is northeast of the town of Rice.

I and several other birders looked for the reported Black Rail at the Sherburne
NWR this afternoon. We did not find a Black Rail but did see at least 2 young
Virginia Rails.

I just located 2 Red Crossbills at the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery on CR64 about
a mile west of Brewster.
I was not able to find any at either the Sunset Rest Cemetery where Bob Ekblad
found them or the Lake Bella Rec Area where Brian Smith found them a few days
ago.

For any interested County listers, the Harlequin Duck which was found in St
Cloud yesterday was seen briefly in the Sherburne County side of the river this
afternoon. It was seen from Riverside Park on the east side of the first
island below the dam.
