only one shift is without any volunteers: Friday, 8/25 from 5-9. This is the hard shift to fill but it has some advantages. You can enjoy the food and fun of the fair and then rest at the MOU booth and listen to the music. It is usually less windy, cooler and not so busy at night. MOU

A group of 5 (maybe 6) found by the MBW group this afternoon at Pine Ridge Co Park. They were in the mixed stand of planted conifers closest to CR 6 feeding on spruce cones. Two adult females, two juveniles, and 1-2 unknown. Also both King Rails still present at the usual N Ottawa impoundment

Feeding at tops of spruce trees on cones. First found by Kim Eckert on MBW this afternoon at Pine Ridge Park. I found 4 females about 7pm and even better views of 8 birds both male and female after 8pm from the county road. Thanks to Liz Harper and Alex Sundvall parked on the county road for

The MOU site has been updated to the 2017 AOU checklist. The taxonomic sequence has change in some strange ways, Dickcissel is now the last bird in the checklist.Sparrows come before Blackbirds and Warblers are after Blackbirds, Cardinals and Tanagers are at the end of the checklist. *
