The following letter has been sent to City Pages regarding the story on
redistricting in the current issue. I hope Schiff and Lilligren will
seriously consider joining the Green Party as a way of responding
politically to the unfair targeting of progressives!

I am what many call a "DFL Guard" and I very loudly oppose the redistricting plan that the commission supported. I appreciate your zeal for the Green Party, as I have as much zeal for the DFL Party.
I think that folks need to remember that the NAACP Plan was voted down 4-4 with the Chair,
I find this sooo funny considering the number of
negative posts Gene has made against CM Schiff. Why
would he now want him to join the Green Party? Could
it be for political advantage instead of ideology? But
that's just what the Green partisans have been
charging the DFL and Republicans with,
The redistricting plan received quite a bit of
attention tonight at the Whittier Alliance Annual
Meeting. Many found it interesting to say the least
that the commission would recommend that such a small
fraction of the neighborhood be chopped out and placed
in another political ward.

From my perspectvie being in two wards has been an advantage to the Seward
neighborhood. It has never made us feel any less of a community and it has often
made us feel that we had more (not less) influence or connections to city
government.
We have always had 2 council members to appeal to
