Re: Tilburg and Xak2

1999-04-28 Thread Rieks W. Torringa

Hello everyone!Did you have a good time at Tilburg? I did, I bought a
game called Fighter's Ragnarok. Very nice.
I've got a question for you guys, maybe it's an old question, 'cause
I'm new here, but here it goes:
I'm playing Xak2 at the moment and I can't get in the church. This is
necessary to restore your karma so that your exp. level will gain.
What am I doing wrong??? Can anybody help me out??? Thanx very much!

Mark.

If you're able or not to enter the church depends on two things. If you carry
a certain item (I believe it was the book with the demons' prophecy, if not,
another devilish item you can easily get rid of by selling or giving it to somebody
else living in Banuwa village) you can't enter the church. If this is not the case,
and you're for example just in the beginning of the game, you won't be playing
the original Xak 2 (which wouldn't be a shame anymore or anything) and you
got a bad copy...

Bye
Rieks

Re: PC Active

1999-04-28 Thread See Loy Lin

In the PC Active of May'99 (Dutch magazine from the makers of MSX
Computer Magazine) there's a 2 page article about MSX computers and
history. The header of this article is: MSX, good but forgotten. It's a
fairly good article about the system.

 Cool! I'll check it out...
 Who wrote it?
 Wammes or Frank???
 I guess Frank.

Neither of them, the article was written by David Boelee (former
MSX Computer Magazine-writer).

information and MISC

Hello everyone,

Just have two questions:

1/ where to get the JOYNET BIOS and latest specifications for the cable?

The latest specs for the cable are on my official JoyNet homepage at
http://datax.cjb.net/

Protocols are still in development, however I will try to finish one; but in
a few days (before saturday) I will add a section to the page with
proposings for a 2-computer and a network-protocol. Which you still have to
program, ofcourse. Also, solutions for the "interrupt-problem" will be given
(the standard MSX interrupt resets the JoyNet pins).

RE: FAT16 for Megascsi

1999-04-28 Thread Manuel Pazos

Hi,

Somebody in Japan is working on a FAT16 driver for Megascsi. You can
download
it from the following URL:

http:/www2s.biglobe.ne.jp/~okei

Though, you should be aware of the fact that the driver is still in a beta
phase and might contain bugs which can lead to dataloss.

You are right. As I said some months ago, Okei and me were working on a
patch for MSX-DOS2 for working with FAT16 in MegaSCSI. The latest version of
FAT16 was made only by Okei, due to my lack of time. But, as usual, SHE made
a great work (she is one os the best coders that I know).

FAT16 supports HDD, ZIP and MO as far as now.
She made a patch for EVA player which can play EVA files bigger that
32Mb.

You can download both utils from my homepage too. (I must upload it,
because it is only updated in my HDD, sorry)

Best regards,

Manuel

Well... A stupid point: why Okei or Manuel Pazos don't tell Nestor
some tips and infos for him to help his FAT16 project?
And more, this tips don't allow making some kind of MSXCDEX for
Sunrise IDE?
I think hiding MSX tech info it stupid. It difficults new
interesting programs be made easily. If ESE released international info
about MegaSCSI, its programming and DOS2 patching, many new utils could be
made. And maybe we had FAT32 now. :)

And again, Manuel Pazos is fudeba. :)

Re: JOYNET information and MISC

1999-04-28 Thread Maarten ter Huurne

At 04:33 PM 4/27/99 +0200, you wrote:

There is no such thing as a JoyNet BIOS (not yet, anyway).

If you want, I can mail you my source for a communication protocol. It has
one major problem though: it cannot recover from errors. Errors are rare,
so for testing the protocol is OK, but there errors are just a bit too
frequent (once in 80 megs if my memory is correct) to call this protocol
reliable.

Laurens also made a protocol, I don't know if his sources are avialable
(either through WWW or my request).

And there is the JoyDsk ROM, a diskROM-like program that enables you to use
a PC like a disk drive through the JoyNet cable (DOS1 only at the moment).

Bye,
Maarten
