RE: Seti@home
Even when my PC runs a seti package for about 28 hours, it would be great to do the same on MSX. It would run for about, i think, 10 days, but when it shows its progres on the screen, like fraktals, it is fun. I think a litle thingie on the PC is neccessarry to get and send the message. It could be done on the MSX, but I don't think a lot of MSXers have the MSX near a phoneline and have a modern type modem to connect to the internet. Good luck, you programmers, I am not one of you, but I envy you in this great task! Hapzee -- For info, see http://www.stack.nl/~wynke/MSX/listinfo.html

The problem that the source is not available, and that Seti is not planning to release it. So, it's kinda hard to find the formulas.. And also: I am afraid it will be a tad longer then 10 days (240 hours)... A 486DX-66 needs about 100 hours, which is aproc 5 days.. I am afraid an MSX needs multiple months to finish one package... But: I mus admit: It would be cool to have a seti clinet for MSX.. (Maybe R800 or Z380 ???) As you think seti is MSX related, I'd like to point out that there is also a MSX RC5 team. Kinda like seti (cracking numbers), but different. I'd like to discuss that with all of you seti guys on a forum. Please come to gathering.tweakers.net or #dpc at sorcery. This is not the place for it. One last thing, do you really believe that you are decoding sounds from outerspace? The crap and dust that is around our globe is so dense and massive that the only sounds we pick up are reflections of our own noise here on earth... my 2 cents ;) -Oorspronkelijk bericht- Van: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]Namens Alex Wulms Verzonden: Thursday, November 02, 2000 11:24 PM Aan: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Onderwerp: Re: Seti@home ] I wonder if we find alien messages earlier than the rc5 key ;-) I think that rc5 key will be found earlier... Off Topic: Re: Seti@home
...hmmm.. off topic :) I really wonder whether we already have been found by e.t. but they just hold still in the back-ground or so... :) And what questions me the most... Are they like us? If so, they should have almost the same technology as we have, so they once had an MSX too, so maybe we can get some alien lifeform helping us make some cool demo's and stuph.. harharhar... Maybe THEY can get MSX alive again... ahwell.. What do you guys think?? When the aliens find us, are they friendly or not? I really don't know, cause on one hand they wouldn't kill us, as we wouldn't kill them if WE found THEM, but on the otherhand, what if they come here to use all our resources? Some Matrix concept or so... Ahwell.. maybe I should post this in another board, but hey, just curious what YOU guys think :) And remember: Use SETI, they may have MSXes and code demo's with us harharhar...
