[music-dsp] Perceptual test on synthesizer sounds

2019-07-09 Thread Fanny Roche

[Apologies for cross postings]

Hi all,

As part of my PhD thesis, I am currently launching a second perceptual
test online of a duration of about 20 minutes, and I am looking for
subjects.

Maybe you saw the first free verbalization perceptual test I sent a few
months ago. I had a lot of answers and I really want to thank you for
that. Thanks to all these answers we have been able to extract some very
interesting terms describing synthesizer sounds. And now, as a
complement, we are launching a new perceptual test using the results of
this previous study. This time, the perceptual test is *only available
in* *French*.

The test consists in listening to synthesizer sounds of about 2 seconds
and evaluating them using the given scales labelled with terms extracted
from the previous free verbalization test. *H**aving participated to the
first test is not mandatory* to take part in this one.

In order to participate to this test, you need:

 * to be comfortable enough with French language
 * good listening conditions (quiet environment and quality audio
material: headphones in a quiet room are ok but please avoid laptop
   speakers)
 * not to present any major hearing impairment
 * to use a browser such as Firefox, Chrome, Safari or Edge that
supports the Web Audio API (the test will not work with Microsoft
   Internet Explorer).

If you are interested, you can find the test at the following link:
http://synthsounds.eu/test_scales_fr.php?url=study/perceptual_scale_rating_fr.xml=scales

Thank you very much for your help,

Best regards,

Fanny Roche

[music-dsp] Perceptual test on synthesizer sounds

2019-02-21 Thread Fanny Roche

[Apologies for cross postings]

Hi all,

As part my PhD thesis, I am currently launching an online perceptual
test of a duration of about 20 minutes, and I am looking for subjects.

The perceptual test consists in listening to synthesizer sounds of about
2 seconds and describing them verbally (written form). 20 audio samples
to annotate will be presented successively.

In order to participate to this test, you need:

 * good listening conditions (quiet environment and quality audio
material: headphones in a quiet room are ok but please avoid laptop
   speakers)
 * not to present any major hearing impairment
 * use a browser such as Firefox, Chrome, Safari or Edge that supports
the Web Audio API (the test will not work with Microsoft Internet
   Explorer).

You can find the test at the following link:
http://synthsounds.eu/test.php?url=study/perceptual_synth.xml.

Note: for people who feel more comfortable at describing sounds in
French, there also exists another version of the test in French at the
following link:
http://synthsounds.eu/test_fr.php?url=study/perceptual_synth_fr.xml.

Thank you for your help,

Best regards,

Fanny Roche
