Sounds to me like his main evidence is discretion. The "Next 10" lists does not mention how many entries there are actually (like when looking at the list of "Traditionals"). Re: [Mutopia-discuss] Mutopia Project update #5
Glen Larsen glenl@gmail.com writes: Thanks for the specific target. I have wondered about this tolerance. A quick histogram of our current state gives this (pared down to the major revision numbers): versioncount - -- 2.11 2.25 2.441 2.697 2.72 2.8146 2.916 2.10 454 2.11 308 2.12 186 2.13 27 2.14 75 2.16 314 2.17 1 2.18 209 2.19 59 Lots of work to do to get to the 2.8 area but nothing like the 2.10 - 2.12 hurdle. Syntax changes got progressively smaller and convert-ly got better. Still, the numbers are not to be sneezed at. -- David Kastrup ___ Mutopia-discuss mailing list Mutopia-discuss@mutopiaproject.org http://lists.bcn.mythic-beasts.com/mailman/listinfo/mutopia-discuss
Re: [Mutopia-discuss] Mutopia Project update #5
Glen Larsen glenl@gmail.com writes: This update will clear 2 LilyPond revisions from the Mutopia Project catalog. At the start of these update projects the total count of LilyPond versions in use was 127 and we are currently at 97. Now that all pieces are now in the 2.* range so, hopefully, the update tasks should be easier. Obviously, careful review must be done as they are converted to newer revisions. Current LilyPond executables refuse even trying to compile a file when the version is older than 2.7.38. While the probability of compiling without running convert-ly is likely not fabulous and the number seems somewhat arbitrary, it would appear to make for a nice milestone. -- David Kastrup ___ Mutopia-discuss mailing list Mutopia-discuss@mutopiaproject.org http://lists.bcn.mythic-beasts.com/mailman/listinfo/mutopia-discuss
Re: [Mutopia-discuss] OK to use devel version of LilyPond?
Abel Cheung abelche...@gmail.com writes: I have just came across some scores that prove to be a bit problematic with current stable (2.18.2) version of LilyPond, but is fixed with newer devel version (most notable bug is 3304). Does mutopia accept scores using devel version? Issue 3304 is: Unequal spacing in odd n-tuplet with other simultaneous subdivisions That does not concern input syntax so you could still upload the source file with a \version 2.18.2 header (possibly with a comment after it that 2.19.whatever yields preferable spacing) while producing the PDF using 2.19.whatever. -- David Kastrup ___ Mutopia-discuss mailing list Mutopia-discuss@mutopiaproject.org http://lists.bcn.mythic-beasts.com/mailman/listinfo/mutopia-discuss

Federico Bruni fedel...@gmail.com writes: Hi I've updated this file: http://www.mutopiaproject.org/cgibin/piece-info.cgi?id=110 Can you review it? My main concern is how to deal with string numbers. I'll comment TabStaff before comitting it, but I want TabStaff to work fine so I must specify the string to get the right fret number. This produces a lot of string numbers. How to deal with that? If you don't need *any* string numbers, you can just use \new Staff \with { \omit StringNumber } { ... } -- David Kastrup ___ Mutopia-discuss mailing list Mutopia-discuss@mutopiaproject.org http://lists.bcn.mythic-beasts.com/mailman/listinfo/mutopia-discuss
Re: [Mutopia-discuss] spurious git diff
Federico Bruni f...@inventati.org writes: Hi all I think that a good practice to ancourage and ease the review of updates is splitting a pull request in at least two commits: one for the initial convert-ly and the second for the manual changes. I think it may be added to the wiki page: https://github.com/chrissawer/The-Mutopia-Project/wiki/Updating-Lilypond-files-for-the-Mutopia-Project I have a question: do you know why git diff after convert-ly doesn't show a proper diff line by line? I've already read a complain about this from Keith on lilypond-user, pointing to this commit: https://github.com/chrissawer/The-Mutopia-Project/commit/81a588f5d16a3bcb4110bd1e8197dbdc5a08137e Uh, different file names _with_ changed content and without options detecting more than renames on unchanged blobs? -- David Kastrup ___ Mutopia-discuss mailing list Mutopia-discuss@mutopiaproject.org http://lists.bcn.mythic-beasts.com/mailman/listinfo/mutopia-discuss
Re: [Mutopia-discuss] file encoding should be UTF-8, right?
Federico Bruni f...@inventati.org writes: Il sab, feb 22, 2014 at 6:38 , Federico Bruni f...@inventati.org ha scritto: $ file -i ftp/ScriabinA/O59/prelude/prelude.ly ftp/ScriabinA/O59/prelude/prelude.ly: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Can I run iconv on it, right? This again will break the diff (see previous thread), but it's needed. One more thing to add to the wiki? If you give me the ok, I can edit the page myself. I can convert with Gedit. However, what's wrong with the following commands? $ iconv -f US-ASCII -t UTF-8 ftp/ScriabinA/O59/prelude/prelude.ly ftp/ScriabinA/O59/prelude/prelude.ly Same output and input file. The output redirection operator truncates the output file to be empty before iconv is run, so it just converts an empty file. I've tried also recode, but it doesn't work: $ recode -v UTF-8 ftp/ScriabinA/O59/prelude/prelude.ly Request: UTF-8..:libiconv:..CHAR Shrunk to: UTF-8..CHAR Recoding ftp/ScriabinA/O59/prelude/prelude.ly... done $ file -bi ftp/ScriabinA/O59/prelude/prelude.ly text/plain; charset=us-ascii US-ASCII is a subset of UTF-8, so there is nothing to convert here. What you want is recode tex..utf-8 here. The problem is that there are things like avec d\\'efi here which get turned into avec d\éfi because of the doubled backslash. At any rate, you should probably look at _all_ \\ sequences first. There is a lot of TeX stuff in there that will stop working, not just accents. -- David Kastrup ___ Mutopia-discuss mailing list Mutopia-discuss@mutopiaproject.org http://lists.bcn.mythic-beasts.com/mailman/listinfo/mutopia-discuss
