I may be completely off track here (I am using mbox - you seem to be using
maildir) but when this particular thing happened to me, it was the fault
of postfix. There is a maximum mailbox size setting somewhere in
/etc/postfix/main.cf. I have this

mailbox_size_limit = 10240

I had changed it to this number from the original value (5120). It
drove me nuts because my mailbox size went over 100mb at exactly the same
time I had upgraded (or was it changed) my distro. :(

Take a look at mailfilter.sourceforge.net.

It can be called from within fetchmail and best of all, it deletes spam
*on the server* so you don't need to download it at all. I had it set up

mutt not saving sent mail

2002-02-15 Thread Dr. Sharukh K. R. Pavri.

Hi !!

I am using 1.3.27 with a .muttrc that I got from Roland Rosenfeld's page
with, by now, quite a few modifications. I had previously got the sample
muttrc file for 1.2.x and now I am using the sample file for 1.3.x.

I used my 1.3.27 for a few days w/ the old muttrc (for 1.2.5) till I was
satisfied w/ the changes I made in the new muttrc. The problem I am
experiencing is that previously when I sent a message, mutt would ask me
if I wanted to save a copy of the message, but I seem to have lost this
function w/ my new mutt muttrc. set copy=ask-no is present in both (the
old and new) rc files. What am I missing ? I need to keep a copy of the
message mainly because I have to use a mighty flaky smtp server that
supports pop before smtp and the *technical* contacts seem to think that I
am getting a relaying denied mesage because I am not using Outhouse
Express !!

thanx,

Sharukh.

errors while compiling mutt-1.3.27

2002-02-08 Thread Dr. Sharukh K. R. Pavri.

Hi,

I have been lurking on this list for quite some time. I am at present
using mutt 1.3.23i which I had built from the tarball. I have now
downloaded the diff's for upgrading to 1.3.27. I put the diff's in the
main mutt source directory and patched the source.

I got a few errors while patching, something wrt the .po file with three
hunks (of the same name) failing for each patch applied. I remember someone
mentioning on the list that these were not *essential* and so I went ahead
with ./configure which gave no errors. But, when I try make install I get
the following errors:

[root@farzaan mutt-1.3.27]# make install
make: *** No rule to make target `PATCHES', needed by `patchlist.c'. Stop.
-

I can't find a patchlist.c anywhere on my pc. I am using a stock install
of RedHAt 7.1.

I'm afraid my knowledge of programming is zero (I am a doctor of
medicine). So if some kind soul can please pull me out of this :-). I am
on a dial-up line so I would prefer not to have to download the 1.3.27
source in toto.

reagards,

Sharukh.

Re: Spam problem

2001-10-28 Thread Dr . Sharukh K . R . Pavri .

If you are using pop3 check out mailfilter, you should find it on
sourceforge. You have to specify the mails you do not want to recieve (using
regexp's) and those mails will be deleted on the server before you download
them to your machine. There is also an option to run it in test mode before
you go fully *online* with it so you know which mails will be deleted.
