Optimising my muttrc

2002-03-15 Thread Raymond A. Meijer

Hello,

I need some help with my muttrc. I'm still running 1.2.5 as I still can't
get the pager to work in 1.3.27...

I have 5 main e-mail addresses: [EMAIL PROTECTED], @x-ray.org,
@imprezaturbo.org, @euronet.nl and @euro.net.

I have set up different environments through folder-hooks in my muttrc,
but not everything works correctly, for example the 'set postponed' option.

What did I do wrong and how can I make my muttrc more readable and
efficient?

Any help is welcome..

Thanks,

Nah. Not even someone who had never even _heard_ of ISO would ever
write -DD-MM. For one thing, only an analytic would put the year

It makes me wonder why America uses MM/DD/ then? It's the same thing :)

In log files I prefer -MM-DD and in general DD-MM-YYY works fine..

I've tried all mutt 1.3.x versions, several $TERM settings, several

Every 1.2.x works fine without any adjustments.

Sometimes the pager displays a bit more (something like \222\222), but I
still can't read mail with 1.3.x.

What should I look at next??

I've been trying through the Windows PuTTY ssh client all along; I'll reboot into
Debian now to see if it works better. I'll post the results here.

Thanks,

P.S. I could make screenshots if anybody would want to see what's

Hello,

I'm looking - but still don't see the immediate problem. Your typescript

movement either - it just doesn't show anything in the pager. From
other comments (and my own checks), it's not related to ncurses. So
it looks like a problem with mutt (or something obscure with your
Linux configuration, such as a broken iconv).

That's what I'm thinking, too: iconv. Everything else runs fine on my
machine, except mutt 1.3.x.

But where do I start troubleshooting iconv...

No, all messages :-)

have you tried linking mutt with slang yet?

I think so, but I'll try again and let you know what happens

Hi,

If I run mutt version 1327, I get a blank screen when I view a message

I've check the list archive, I've disabled all color options, I've checked
my terminal settings, but the problem remains

the To: prompt I don't see the characters that I type there either, even

I'm running Linux version 2413 (root@www) (gcc version 2954 20011006
(Debian prerelease)) #6 SMP and the following mutt compile options:

System: Linux 2413 (i686) [using ncurses 52]

PKGDATADIR=/usr/local/share/mutt

Mutt seems to be the only ncurses program that shows this problem

Any help would be appreciated

Actually, I've seen something similar. If I write a very quick reply,
the "Mail sent" message comes up immediately. If I write a long one,
or stop and do something else instead and so on, there's a substantial
delay before I get that. I had assumed that this was just due to the
"doing something else" and that the process was swapped out or something.
 Could this be the solution?

I'm using Linux too, and I suspect that the MTA is just waiting for the
proper MX records from the DNS server?

folder hooks and sendmailendmail

Hi,

I can't seem to get mutt to use different sendmail settings for different
folders:

folder-hook "!" set sendmail="/usr/sbin/sendmail [EMAIL PROTECTED]"

just makes mutt beep when switching to that folder...

I thought that ANY configuration setting could be made from a folder hook?

If I have my threads collapsed in a mailbox, and tag them with T*, not
all messages are selected; only the ones visible in the index! The

How can I solve this apart from first expanding the threads?

Depending on your situation, hooks can be tricky.

 A general

most cases, you want to set up a default hook. Read the

Multiple Personalities

1999-12-02 Thread Raymond A. Meijer

Hi,

I'm trying to create multiple personalities in mutt, each with his
own settings. I went through doc and man pages and I've checked
several web sites, but I don't get any further.

I have several e-mail addresses like [EMAIL PROTECTED] and for
example [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I want to be able to receive all messages to these accounts into
1 mailbox and read that mailbox with mutt. That's easy enough of
course.

Now when I reply to a message sent to [EMAIL PROTECTED], the custom
headers (From, Reply-To and Organization) and other settings for
[EMAIL PROTECTED] should be used.

When I reply to a message sent to [EMAIL PROTECTED] I want mutt to use
the settings for that account.

How do I set up something like that? I'm currently using several
seperate accounts, which is really annoying...

Can somebody send me some tips or point me to a web page?

Thanks a lot!!
