Allow me to suggest that the issue is not with the base technologies, either Resin or Eclipse, but with the configuration of the products in the jasic package, and hence your difficulties with the labs. I trust that if you started with a clean installation of the products your issues would be

I also have had great difficulty with Resin not functioning consistently. There seems to be bugs with the path processing done by Resin, war's that work fine in Tomcat are hit or miss in Resin. I have also had trouble with image paths and tag-lib paths. Bottomline after spending hours Saturday (and
