It may not have anyting to do with hardware or myth, and have
everything to do with the kernel.
When I switched from 2.4.26 to 2.6.14, I ran into problems with
stuttering. I had my kernel configured for 1000Hz and full pre-emption
originally, and it would often get into a state where it would
are using?
TIA

Welcome to All Things UNIX, where
as I verify that it can capture an AC-3
datastream under linux, I'm thinking of grabbing some bttv supported
card cheap off e-bay, or maybe a Matrox Marvel G200, if it will work
on the amd64.

I was kind of hoping for a guideline like each spinup is equavalent to
X hour of idle spinning. You can do the math for power consuption, but
I guess that wear and tear is a bit more difficult.
I was looking at the specs for one of my drives and couldn't find a
lifetime in hours or mtbf, but it
with the new drive, bring the
logical volume up, and then run fsck, and pray.

My new cable box has a coax digital out. Is anyone successfully recording
the digital stream and playing it back? If so, what hardware/drivers are
you using? Can you play it back on a frontend without digital audio out?

The only thing I can think of is xautomation. It lets you send
keyboard events to an X server, so you could use it to script a series
of keystrokes to the frontend.

You probably don't have all the development libraries that you
need. Here's what I did:
Run 'apt-get showsrc mythtv-frontend', and install the packages in
the Build-deps list, except libxinerama-dev, and don't worry about the
version of x-libs-static. Make sure that you have gcc-3.2 and g++-3.2
=-g ' to your
configure command, and recompile everything. That will give a bit more
info when you look at the core file.

If mythbackend left a core file lying around, I'd be interested in
what a backtrace shows.

rock-solid. I've read that it's something to do with the video

it for some reason, maybe it needs to be mounted on the same path as
on the backend or something. I couldn't find anywhere to set that
path on the frontend.
